in my A41.8T B6 it equipped with an Audi Chorus...

which stereo is better? is the concent > symphony > chorus?

can i upgrade to RNS-E from this chorus? it seems i have to remove the chorus & move aircondition panel down to launch the RNS-E.

I don't think I've ever seen a single din radio before on a b6....

I'm wondering if you went Nav+ if you could simply put the AC down below or if there is more to it.

You will need a new AC control unit like this one...

A single DIN unit stares at me everyday (cos I have one in my car too)

is this new AC control unit for supporting RNS-E?

tks for comments

does this mean the AC panel (originally matched 1DIN stereo) will need another bracket to support the double DIN RNS-E?

i got another ebay seller for this item 8E0858005 F, & i suppose this might be the right bracket required for upgrading job.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4645374719&ssP ageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX</a
<

Symphony > Concert > Chorus

Concert (with single CD Player) and Chorus (with compact cassette) are the single DIN units, Symphony is a double DIN unit like the RNS-E. In the B6 all radios are 2nd generation using CAN to talk to the car, so what you have is a Chorus II.

Electrically the radios all use the same connectors, usual differences are with/without Bose, with/without external CD changer and with/without phone.

To retrofit a double DIN unit you will need a new radio cage and modify (dremel) the A/C unit to fit further down in the center console. You could also get a double DIN A/C unit (get one with/without heated seat to match what you have right now) and move the electronics from your A/C unit over to the new A/C unit. If you want to get it perfect you will also new a new ashtray.

This guide should give you an idea on what's required to get an RNS-E installed:

I went from Chorus to RNS-E - You'll Need All This

Some people cut down their existing climate control (the console tapers in a little at the bottom) - I just replaced it with a new double din climate control..

You will need the double din chassis/cage to mount the equipment (you can see it at the back of my photo).
