PLEASE HELP ASAP..ESP & BATTERY LIGHT STALLS
 

2004 audi a6 2.7T quattro automatic...tonight i was driving the car and it kind of fluttered a bit then picked up again and then a few minutes later again, this time the ESP light comes on and starts making clicking sound then the battery light comes on also and it stalls out.....started back up drove 2 minutes and did it again...what the hell is or can this be....please offer some advice so i know what im talking about when i hit the shop

I've had the battery light come on before and make the car die because of an alternator failure.

The alternator stopped working, so the battery wouldn't get charged AND was the only provider of electricity to the car systems and therefore depleted completely before long.

Did you notice what the voltmeter showed on the dash?

If you are able you can bring your battery to a parts store (Advanced, Zone, etc) and they can tell you if its empty.

If you're handy great, at the dealer around $1000 - which is where AAA had to tow me on my trip.
