What is Best Oil Additive for Clicking Lifters
 

I've used the Marvel Mystery Oil. It does help, but I would like suggestions on something else that may be better.

You may want to change your oil. Also, the use of synthetic may help. If they are still noisy, you're best bet is to change the lifters.

marvel works but I've been using lucas oil stabilizer. trusted brand by many people I've talked to.

I use Restore every oil change
 

not only does it quite the lifters right up its also a bandaid for worn rings. Slows the oil consumption up a little and give backa little power. Also good for the turbo. And dont forget to get an oil filter with anti drain back valve.

Yup...$5-7 each, times 10 or 20 for a new set (don't replace just one or two, do them all)

I forgot to mention that. I had them all replaced 6 months ago because they were ticking. After the job was done, the new ones have never been quiet either.

Did you also re-shim after changing the lifters? There is a shim under the lifter which is used to vary the clearance between the lifter and cam lobe.

With the valve cover off use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the lifter and cam lobe (the valve should be fully close). The valve is fully closed when the highest point on the cam is pointing away from the lifter. Write down the clearance and verify that they are within spec. If they are not then the cam will have to be remove and the shims replaced with either a larger or smaller shim to get it back within specification. It is always better to be a little loose than tight on the clearance, this will prevent a burnt valve. I usually try to go between the max and min. The clicking lifter can be cause by too much clearance between the lifer and the cam lobe, even though the noise is annoying it is still better than having them too tight which can lead to a burnt valve.

There are no shims on the hydraulic lifters, only the solid lifters and maybe the 20v inlet side...
