Why did you buy an S6 instead of an S7?

Just want to get people's thinking. For me, I just can't warm up to the S7's design. I know many people think it is a stunning design, but I am afraid that I am not one of them. The rear end just looks too hunchback-ish to me. I also like the headlight shape of the 6 more than the 7.

Ability to seat 3 in the back if needed

All of the above plus it left $10K in my jeans to pay for other toys.

Delurker 01-22-2014 04:08 PM

All of the above.

Trunk and rear seat headroom were main factors. Keeping an extra $8-10K was a secondary but not insignificant one.

All the above plus the top view camera.

I've been actually thinking about this for a little bit - the A7 body is nice and all but something was off for me

I pulled the trigger on an S6 earlier this month [being built]
I was considering the R S7

I personally like 4 seaters

My wife has the CLS and would have bought an S7 for herself but the roofline in the rear is too low, we couldn't get a child seat in comfortably - we knew immediately when we tried; both looked at each other like 'crap, guess its the MB'...

I like the headlights way better on the S6 but I'm not too thrilled that it doesn't get more aggressive styling over the A6.

In the end, I think the A/S/R S7 is an elegant and sexy car. Honestly; a little too feminine for my taste

I had ordered the S7 originally but changed it to an S6. I was worried that I would get sick of the hatchback design after a while and now when I see an A7/S7 on the road I feel that I made the right choice. I still appreciate the A7/S7 design but I much prefer my S6. I also wanted more headroom and the rear bench seat and as others said the extra $10k was a bonus. I would prefer it if there was a little more aggressive styling to bring it closer to the front of the RS6 but over all I'm very happy with my car. As a daily driver I don't want anything too flashy but I don't want a boring car either so the S6 is as close to perfection as I can get right now. If I had to do it over I would order the same exact car but use some of that extra cash to upgrade to the B&O sound system. The Bose is pretty lame and it bugs me but that discussion is for another thread.

Prefer the S6 front bumper/grille/headlights and overall shape compared to the S7, also the price.

Shortly after ordering my A6 I regretted not getting an A7 instead. After a few months of having the A6 and joining the local Seattle Audi group I was desperate for a car with a good exhaust note and some more power. I decided I would trade in the A6 and test drove an S7. It was fantastic...

Until I looked at it closer and closer and sat in the back row. I'm 6'1" and it was a bit tight. I also MUCH prefer the front end styling, especially the headlights of the A6. While I think the 7 body style is by far one of the best looking cars you can buy today it just wasn't there. Plus like others said that $10k was a big plus. It will pay for XPel, Tinting, ECU tune, Exhaust and maybe even wheels.
