Parking Brake Malfunction
I have a 2005 A6 that I purchased in January 2005. It has 42,000 miles on it and the warranty expired last week. The Parking Brake Malfunction light came on yesterday and I took it to my local dealer. He tells me I have a faulty computer which has to be replaced - total cost $900. I have never even used the parking brake and the computer goes out. I am having it replaced tomorrow at my expense, but this really hacks me off. Has anyone else run into a failure like this?

Re: Parking Brake Malfunction
yea, I bought a 2005 at auction in September. I drove it home and parked it on a slope, set the brake. When I got in next to move it, the parking brake malfunction light lit up, and the brake was stuck. I could not move the car! However, the car sat overnight and was fine in the morning.
I looked in the trunk (behind the tire changing tools), and saw that the parking brake controller had been fixed (which I think is the computer you refer to). The old one was in the trunk, and the new one was just sitting there, so I suspect that Audi tossed it in, deleted the fault code and sent it to auction. I also reset the code, and haven't had another issue since (of course I haven't used the brake since either). There is a TSB on this issue also, if you search for it,... |
There is a TSB. Drop me a PM with your e-mail and I will send it to you.

Re: Parking Brake Malfunction
I've got the same issue. How do I get the TSB? I'd pm Kevin if I could figure out how to do it.
Just had MMI module replaced in my 05 and I think it may be related. |
Peter, I sent you the TSB. Good luck
