Help with central locking pump

1 Attachment(s)
My central locking vacuum pump went bad. I opened the unit and found the graphite impeller shattered in multiple pieces.

I was looking through the ebay listing and on internet and it seems like the vacuum pumps itself look very similar.

So I was wondering whether I could buy the cheapest unit from ebay for other German cars (like MB or VW) and replace just the graphite impeller. Would that work. Does anybody know anything about the impeller sizes in these pumps? Thanks.

I have a CLP that I know went bad electrically. I can pull the cover off and check out the inside. I will let you know.

There is actually a tech article about this exactly.

Although, I can't say if the eBay ones will have the same impeller.

Here it is:

CLP is good mechanically, but electronically it is done.

Let me know what you think.

Hello I just joined the forum so bear with me.

will a pump from a Jetta/Passat work as a replacement?

TimO'Brien 04-16-2009 01:02 PM

Yes. I did it to my central locking assembly. All that is needed is a small piece of vacuum hose (about an inch) to "extend" the pump tube. There is a tech article floating around somewhere here or on the WWW. The nice thing is you don't have to do any key reprogramming :)

Has anybody used a vacuum pump from Mercedes Benz?

chivo818 04-16-2009 01:23 PM

That's great to know, my pump works great. My issue is my remote stopped working (doing a search)

Any ways I found 2 pumps a junkyard the impellers look good just need to test.
