Start Button Issue

Any of you had this happen to your start button? Basically, the metal edge of the N pulled up and cut my finger the other day. I had to snap it off so I didn't keep catching my finger.

The start button on our RS5 is a totally different kind and looks like this could not happen to it.

Just wondering if it's happened to others.

Wow! No sign of that here. Literally cut your finger? I would have thought the button was molded plastic with a "metal" paint applied. But clearly not...

Yes, cut with blood. The button is plastic underneath and aluminum clad (likely just glued to the plastic).

It has happened before but there hasn't been a thread about it in a while. IIRC the center of the "A" was popping up. Some people installed some paint protection film over the button.

Will the dealer replace under warranty?

Happened to me on my B8 S5. Like others said, dealer took care of it.

Happened on my S4 when a detailer wiped it down. Stuff can get trapped under the letters, and apparently the N in particular. Only solution once that happens is to replace it. Dealer did mine since (a) it was under warranty, and (b) I was using their detailer. Covering it with paint protection film or even something like the COTS phone screens would certainly prevent it from happening, although I worry about the adhesive causing the same problem if/when you decide to remove the film.

It's interesting to look at the button on our RS5. Feels way more solid and not prone to this happening. Not sure why they would be different.
