How to remove rear view mirror trim cover on windshield

How do you remove the plastic cover that's on the windshield from the headliner to the pivot point on the back of the mirror?

This the piece that looks like a "symmetrical pork chop" right on the windshield.

I think it can be pried off but want to be sure. What is the technique? Flat screwdriver? Pry at the top or bottom?

I want to run the V1 cord under the cover to mount the detector under the mirror. I don't want the detector up and to the left of the mirror.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, a Valentine One hardwired into the Homelink circuit inside the overhead console.

Probably do it over the Thanksgiving weekend.

So, I installed the hardwire V1 today and it went fine.

I tapped into the Homelink switched wire and grounded to one of the studs hanging down from the roof.

The spade connector from V1 is to small to fit around the stud so I clipped it off, stripped of an inch of sheathing from the wire and made a loop instead. Then, tightened the nut down over the wire loop.

I notched the upper mirror stalk cover and ran the wire down through the opening.

The detector hangs on the suction cup mount under the mirror, biased to the left. This way the rear antenna and laser detector have a clear view out the rear window.

Looks neat and tidy and it is in the perfect location for my needs.

Next on the list is the Laser Interceptor dual system...

I know it is almost 9 months later but do you rememeber the color of the switched wire? I'm installing an escort smartradar this weekend.
