slotted or cross-drilled for a daily driver??

I need to get new rotors for my B5 A4. Which one is more practical for a spirited daily driver? I do push the car from time to time, but am not a track racer. Also, how come the cross-drilled rotors come as OE for many high-performance cars, but not slotted rotors? Is that saying something about which one I should go with?

Thanks for your help!

Either is fine on the street.

Both help keep the pads free of glazing and give the pads a little more bite. If you think you ever might track your car, though, I'd recommend slotted to avoid this ...

I'd add that other than looks, there's no point to slotted/crossdrilled on the street

If you don't track the car, save the money and get better brake pads. The pads matter much more than what type of hole or groove is in the rotor.

Techincally high performance cars...

should come with slotted to meet the needs of the perforamnce driver although most people who buy performance cars dont usually track the car and so there are installed with drilled to improve styling.

So go with the following

Regular track performance = Slotted

Occasional track & improved styling = Cross drilled
