How exactly do you pack a CV joint with grease? (edit)
also can I pack it and then run it on the shaft, or do I have to do it almost simotaneously?

Buy papers?
|
what exactly are you asking?
How to take it apart or pack it with grease?
|
it's easy
All you need to do is use the supplied grease that comes with the new boot and once you attach the small side go ahead and fill the boot with grease. You can also put some on the all the inerparts. Make sure before you do this step you have cleaned all the old grease and dirt out of it well. It is not "packed" like bearings where you can use a gbearing packer or do it the old fashioned way and get your hands dirty.

pack it with grease
basically I have a bad CV joint, and I have the replacement sitting in my room with a boot, and a bunch of grease, and I am not sure exactly how to pack it.
|
the joint is brand new.
so just pack it into the boot and all the parts, and then attatch?
|
Re: the joint is brand new.
yes that's all.
|
just put in the grease and spread it around with your finger
then put the rest in the boot. It will spred by itserlf when you drive it.
|
I'd use some rubber gloves. That grease will be messy.
Make sure you squeeze the excess air out of the boot, before clamping down, to prolong the life of the boot.
|
If the joint came dry push it into the cup until no more will go...
don't just spread it around in the boot, it will just stay there. You need to get it down into the balls that do the work.
