Snows for SQ5
Just picked up my wifes Phontom Black SQ5. We love it! Anyone see snow tire package for this beast?

Congrats on the SQ5!
I didn't want too much of a cosmetic downgrade from the stock 21" so I'll be using oem 20" wheels from an S-line Q5 (peeler style) with Blizzak DM-V1 tires on our SQ5. These should be more than adequate for the relatively minimal snowfall here in Chicago, as well as our annual winter road trip to the east coast, upstate NY and the adirondacks. I'd probably be fine with all-seasons but why compromise? I'm sure 19" will fit too, and probably more ideal for a dedicated winter set because you could not only increase the aspect ratio but also go narrower with the tires. Check the classifieds or ebay for oem 19" Q5 wheels (there are lots of them available) or look at hartmannwheels.com for a nice selection of Audi-style replicas that are conveniently compatible with the stock lug bolts and oem center caps. Any of the above options will likely not only look better than whatever winter wheel package your Audi dealership might offer you, but will be cheaper too. |

I understand the SQ5 most probably is a different beast with respect to larger brake rotors, but if you REALLY need SNOWs, you want to consider 17" or 18" wheels. |

Winter tyres exist two size for SQ5 : -235/55 R19 (snow chains, permissible top speed 210 km / h) -255/45 R20 (not suitable for snow chains, including wheel arch, maximum speed 240 km / h) http://www.audi.de/de/brand/de/neuwa...er-reifen.html |

Still seeing if someone will post the SQ5 spare size.
I think the others use an 18x6 wheel with the 195/75 blow up spare. I have a suspicion...

My SA said that you have to be careful with some 19" wheels on the SQ5 since the size of the brakes are larger than regular Q5. When balancing the wheels depending on where the sticky weights have to go they can hit the caliper if there isn't enough clearance. I think the German Audi site only lists like 1 or 2 OEM wheels that will fit for winter.
Here is a 20" wheel I got off tire rack. Attachment 84404 |
