Fine screen pre-air filter

Did anyone even know this is there? I found it when changing out my grille. Boy was it plugged! If you lift off the lock plate plastic cover it is on the passenger side. Some sort of pre-air filter screen.

Yes, that's the snow screen. It's part of audi's regular maintenance. It says to clean it every 20k miles. I try to clean it with every oil change.

Yes I found it to. Was bugging the hell out of me what a snow screen was until I googled it.

Any directions on how to get to the snow screen, i know they techs do it during regular maintenance but sometimes things are forgotten and i would like to double check mine.

Simply lift up the plastic piece on the left side side above the headlight and you'll see it.

I just changed my air filter today but didn't know if was there until I read this.

How do I remove it?

Is there a trick to removing the black plastic panel covering this snow screen?

No, it just lifts out of place...there are no fasteners but there are a series of retaining clips (hidden) right up against the edge of the chrome grille.

Mine got chewed. Keep or delete?

Anyone priced one out and got the part number (for the 4.2L)?
