Default Latest update: Did I ever mention how much I love doing exhaust work?

No?

There's a reason for that.....

Pic of my homemade 3" downpipe. It's not pretty, but it has mandrel bends, and only cost me $30 to make, $75 total including the flex joint and reducer

The 3" to 2.5" header collector reducer, and the inlet to the Scorpion exhaust that needs to be cut off. Plenty of room, clears the newly installed DTS with ease....

Flex joint in place.

I installed a flex connector on the turbo outlet tube, and put on a bunch of T-bolt hose clamps from Hose Techniques Hopefully this will prevent any hoses from popping off.

I'm currently only running with one O2 sensor in. I have to lengthen the wires, plus I'm not sure where I'm going to put it, maybe in the collector reducer (it's easy to remove)

I put about 200 miles on it this morning (maiden voyage) - the chip seems to be running OK, I think it's running a little rich, but that could be because I only have 1 O2 sensor hooked up.

I have the N75 valve disconnected to limit the boost to 10psi during the break-in period. Full throttle at 10psi seems to cause a sputter, maybe because it's expecting more boost, and I have it limited, so it dumps too much fuel?
Even so, 3/4 throttle and 10psi seems almost as strong as full throttle/boost on the 1.8 K03, I can't wait to turn up the boost. I need to get the high-flow fuel pump and head studs in first though.

Also, for some reason, my speedometer decided to stop working (probably bad speed sensor) along with my coolant temp gauge (sensor is good, probably bad gauge) and I have a VERY squeaky ball joint to take care of.

I know you probably won't have the answer, what's the clearance from the turbo inlet to the front end of the car (fan)? your downpipe looks good. =)so it's basically 3 inch all around.

Default There's just enough room to fit a 90 degree bend going down....

I'll measure the actual distance later tonight when I get out of work.

Default 2nd 02 is just to monitor cat efficiency.

I thought the speed sensor had to work or the ecu would go to limp?

Default It's acting funny....

When I first drove it down the driveway and back, it would go up to 10mph, then fall to zero at anything faster than 10mph. Later, it would go up to 30mph, than fall to zero.

I haven't had a chance to see if the VAG-COM datalogging will show the speed, it's possible the ECU is getting the signal, and the Instrument Cluster isn't.

I didn't think I'd need the second O2 sensor, but I don't want to be driving around with the CEL on all the time (like I am now)

Default Save the 50 bucks....

The resistance works 0.1-0.9, with a steep slope off in the middle. You could just solder up a resistor and seal the end off.

Default $50? I wish, I think these O2 sensors, from the dealer, are around $200 or so....

Of course, I got a couple prototype univeral 4-wire O2 sensors for free
I think the universal ones are still over $100 (if they're even out yet)

It's not just the O2 sensor you have to worry about, it's the O2 heater element as well, you get DTC's for both. If it doesn't turn the CEL on, I'm not going to worry about it. If it does, I'll look into some resistors and see what happens.
