need recommendation on a travel agent
#2
Out of curiousity, why a travel agent?
I gave up on them years ago because I realized that every frustrating travel experience I have had (aside from TSA'tards and airlines mixups) has stemmed from a careless/lazy/incompetent travel agent. I discovered that by spending a little bit of time on the internet and buying a guide book or two from Barnes and Noble I could book any trip I'm involved in and save the agent fees.
The exception in this case possibly being that with your group size an agent may be able to negotiate some discounts. But, again, you calling the hotel directly may net the same discount. Just a thought.

I agree. Travel agents often cause more problems.
I made all arrangements for a trip to Europe last year leaving just the airfare to a travel agent to book. Only thing that got messed up? The flights. You can probably find a better deal by shopping on your own.

That is possible.
Might be worth a shot to make a couple phone calls on your own, just to check. The airlines are harder to do this with but many hotels will honor the same rate.

Just got back from O'ahu after using...
Costco Travel. I suppose they are a travel agency of sorts. I have nothing but good to say about all arrangements that were made thru them. People were easy to deal with, cordial and ready to help.
We also were able to get cheap upgrades once on the island...one example...got a huge room with 2 lanai's on the 24th floor across the street from Waikiki Beach for only a $60 upgrade per night. We saved quite a bit of money compared to most internet pricing, and had the whole deal as one package that went smooth the whole vacation!
FWIW, check it out, would not let a fellow allroader down yo.
