Those of you familiar with NYC...
then you know parking overnight there is at least 40$/night ....
i'm thinking parking outside the city and taking a train in is a better option?? I'm visiting a buddy gettin there friday afternoon leaving saturday afternoon... so about 24-30 hrs...
suggestions? I don't know the train system that well there, but like most train systems, i can figure it out after staring at the map for a while.
safe-esk places to park and leave the car overnight outside the city for cheap(er?)
Thanks!
Or... is it THAT much less of a hassle if i just suck it up and pay 50$ for parking that i don't have? lol

While I'm not entirely sure, I think the parking lot for the PATH train in Hoboken is cheap
My sister's friend's brother works the night shift for the New York Times and I remember him saying he parks overnight for dirt cheap...I'd assume that rate is somewhat applicable for the weekend.

haha quick google search...
"A 21-year-old man from Bayonne, New Jersey was followed off the PATH train in Hoboken and attacked by two men who had been harassing him on the train for, among other things, wearing pink pants ..."

Overnight rates in Jersey ain't cheap either.
Might cost you half what it'll cost in Manhattan, and you'll save on tolls. Maybe try Newport Center Mall parking garage in Jersey City? PATH station on the other side of the mall will take you right to 33rd street.
Alternatively, there is free street parking in some areas in Jersey City after 5PM on weekdays and all weekend. If I have to leave my car up there, I'll park it on Columbus in Jersey City, one block east of Grove St. Not too much commotion on that block and a PATH station is right at Grove and Columbus.

I don't wanna get tow'd saving 40$... =\
and, when you say save on tolls, meaning if i stay in nyc or if i go to jersey city ?(sorry only driven to nyc once, and never to jersey, so im a n0000b)

I would find somewhere to park indoors for overnight. The last time..
I parked overnight in Jersey City (3 years ago) my car was broken into and all of my stereo equipment was stolen. This was downtown near Newport.
