SFPD owned me on Ellis St. $50 for VC 5200.
Somehow, someone said it used to be $100 in the past. .... Should I feel any better?
Any comments, if I simply use "clear" cable ties and neatly fasten the front plate securely on the lower grille. Will SFPD sign off the "fix-it" with this method?
Help!, need a AWer SFPD buddy to go easy on these things hahahhahha!

I got pulled over for it last year. Borrowed someone elses front plate mount, put the plate on
drove it to the police station got it signed off and took it off again.
I believe it was a $10 fix it ticket, but I think the fine has gone up.

hah...i have a funny story...
i got in trouble on my mr2 before, but unfortunatly i misplaced the front plate and had no idea what happened to it. i zip tied my civic lic plate to it and had a lunchin cop write me off. that was a interesting moment =) (i snipped it off as soon as i got home)

Were you driving or parked? BTW, you can use suction cups, or make a bracket....
See my pictureposter, or my A6 FAQ, for details. Suction cups go onto the Audi license plate frame with virtually no modification, into existing holes, and it holds onto the bumper quite well. This might not pass a sign-off inspection, unless he doesn't look to closely... it looks stock when in place.
I've made a bracket that is more permanent, but can go on and off in less than 60 seconds. Again, the details are in the FAQ. Takes a bit of thought to design it for a particular grille and bumper shape, but not difficult. I put it on when I go to SF (at least when I remember!). Thanks for the reminder.
Plastic parts for the bracket:

You can see the suction cups (didn't bother to remove them) as well as the newer braket (pine prototype) here:
