Default So what's all y'alls favorite Tahoe skiing mountain?

I've had a season pass to Kirkwood for two years now, debating a third. I've been to a half dozen other mountains, but by no means all of them.

Here's what I like about Kirkwood:
-Close and off the beaten path, so there's less traffic. I can get there from Berkeley in 2.5 hours.
-Not as crowded, not as many kids
-Very varied terrain

Here's what I don't like:
-Only one high speed lift
-Runs a little short

Is there any place that can beat it? I go up for one day suicide runs a lot...so something that's 4 hours away wouldn't work as well.

Default Then you are out of luck. If you go during the week there is Squaw and Northstar. I like

Sugar Bowl also. Avoid Sierra or Boreal...both small and LOTS of beginners. Of course I avoid Tahoe on the weekends like the plague now. WAY to crowded. I live 1hr15min. from Sugar Bowl and it can take up to 3hrs and some points on the weekends. Its all the damn Bay Area people crowding the roads! ;-)

Default i'd stick with kirkwood then, sugar bowl might be an option for you too

but then runs are a little shorter there.

Default Alpine or Kirkwood

Alpine has tons of hidden terrain. It's there in plain view, but not well marked on the map. Kirkwood has much higher elevwation, which counts for a lot of better snow.

Default Soooo.....SAC-CA-S4...lets arrange an Audi day on the slopes....There are

a bunch of Audi folks who live in the Tahoe area. If we have to put up with those pesky Bay Area people...lets make sure the are Audi people.

Default We could do that...we did a Mammoth trip years ago with the Audizine guys. What

we did was all pitched in and rented a big condo. We could kind of do the same thing...around early Feb. or so.
