How many of you are outside of what is generally considered the Bay Area? As this is supposed to be the NorCal Discussion list I'm just wondering. Most posts seem to be centered in the Bay Area/SF.
I'm in Redding and see a few Audi's up here. A couple RS4's and only one C5 S6 (mine). A couple C4 S cars and more A4's. Just wondering. Perhaps there needs to be a "Bay Area" discussion list? Little attention is paid to us outside of it. I know there are a lot of Audi's up in the Truckee area but haven't seen much representation.

I am Bay Area, but own in Truckee too.
Audi used to be the other obvious AWD car of choice up there besides Subies, and it was the only Eurpoean car that stayed out in winter when all the fair weather Bimmers and Mercs went inside.
Now though with all the AWD choices out there, Audi sightings are dwindling at the margin. Probably the most common Euro sighting now is an XC90, of course in the cross over group. It's still probably Audi's in the pure sedans, and in general there aren't a lot of the Japanese AWD sedans seen. My guess is X Bimmers will soon be better represented. Still, the vast majority of those cars are driven by the Bay Area crowd with second homes there.
If you focus on pure locals, I would say that market is #1 conventional SUVs of all types with a lot of domestics, #2 pickup trucks, often 4WD, of many brands, #3 older and beater basic cars, often small Japanese, #4 Subies, #5 (usually older--5 to 15 years) Audis. Just category 1 and 2 might be 80-90% of the vehicles in the average parking lot thoughout the winter, and still a majority in summer.

Just outside of Sacramento myself. I know there are a number of Audi enthusiasts around here.
Although having said that, I'm starting to see more and more of the 'why in the hell is that guy waving at me like he knows me' crowd who don't yet know Audi drivers occasionally acknowledge each other on the road.
