so, last time...
we all met up at the wachusett gtg last fall...
and we all started a "spirited" mountain climb up to the top...(about 15 audi's)
all of the B5S4's, B5/B6A4's, and my car did just fine...we did however have a kid in a old black mk3 VW gti with FWD...we hit a small hill spot after a thrilling left turn, and this kid (right in front of gdawga4 and me following behind) decided that his car was good enough to floor it, and down-shift into 2nd and try and take this small hill with all he could...
his car decides to lose control (due to him obviously) and he flies into the brush, and also gets his front wheel stuck between the fender under a bent' tree (now tree trunk) that got mowed down in the process
and... our spirited drive becomes a 'everyone slam on your brakes and skid to a stop..i literally came to a nail biting ABS flickering stop less than 1 foot away from gdawga4's rear bumper' jam...
so we all get out to see if this kid flew out the front windshield or something...shaking our heads and running to his car to look for body parts..we aren't even sure how one would even find some way to lose control on a straight hill climb with no slant left or right...but somehow he did
he was perfectly fine, but a bit shook up..his car however was stuck...
the 1000 tourists and other BMW enthusiasts that visited that day - drove by and made this into a "hey! lets drive by and stare at the dumb kid in the bush instead of the foliage and the landscape!", mind you there is no one even slowing down to help us, they just drive by and gawk...thanks for the big help.
an hour goes by of pushing this car and rocking it back and forth to get it off of this poor baby maple tree that was assaulted by a VW...no luck...
end of story, the park rangers had to come by and wench this kid out of the brush...this situation could have been 200x times worse considering the mountain's edge only 500ft up the road was a skinny stretch of asphalt and it would be a very long way down...
so as a pre-warning, this sounds like a BLAST and load of fun and I'll probably attend myself...
but please drive with some smarts if you want to keep your health 8^)
yes it helps to have awd quattro and tires that aren't bald...but common sense first
