Default moving to boston and looking for good mechanic

my 2002 A4 1.8TQ (60k mi) has been sitting idle for about two years because i've been living in nyc. but i'll be moving to boston next weekend and am looking for a good mechanic to take a look at my car and see if anything needs to be done.

i'm already anticipating a timing/accessory belt change.

can anyone recommend a trustworthy shop/mechanic for something like this? thanks.

Gerg's Repair or Central Service in Natick, Brian's Garage in Needham, Advanced Auto in Gloucester. Those will be the common ones mentioned. I prefer Greg's, he is Audi/VW only, and is pretty much the only one I trust with my car.

I hope you have some fuel stabilizer in there! Ditto what Boston Driver said, although I've yet to try some of those shops...

its advanced technologies in gloucester, not advanced auto. ive mainly used them for the big stuff i cant do myself. ive had them do a clutch and timing belt and no complaints. i had a problem with my shifter after the clutch and they took it back no problem and fixed it. even payed for the tow. also, marcs forgiegn car in wakefield is good. marc is a very cool guy who knows his stuff. youll need to call to make an appointment though since his shop is small and tends to be a bit busy.

Default audi mechanic

I highly recommend Advanced Technologies in Gloucester. Lee works mainly on Audi, VW, and other German cars. We have had work done on all of our cars by him and we wouldn't go anywhere else. He just finished a full K04 turbo upgrade on our A4, with new intercooler and downpipes. the car sounds and performs amazing. Their # is 978-282-5544 you won't be disappointed.

Aren't you frank? You've posted this number previously telling people to call you because you have 18 years experience on Audi's. Kind of lame...

Default Be Certain

Brian's Garage has been around for so long and ask anybody in Boston about the work they do there, you'll only get positive remarks.

Has ANYONE used this guy before?? Considering him for a timing belt job, but i'd love some legit feedback. He's done a lot of digging up ancient posts and responding to them trying to get work.

And I agree, that move^^^quoted abouve^^^ is kinda shady. Makes me very leery of using him for a such an important job.
