Anti-lock Brake Noises

Anti-lock Brake Noises
Hello Audi Owners,
I have a 1998 A4 Avant Quattro, V6, 98K miles, overall well and self maintained. I recently had a rear axle bearing replaced (well, I had them do this), and they broke a ABS sensor, which they also replaced. Now the brakes make a couple noises. On hard braking, the ABS kicks in mostly, but the driver's front slides on dirt. With light braking, right before stopping, there is a funn scratching noise that sounds like the ABS is starting to kick in, but does not (and should not). There are no error lights (though I have not scanned with VagCom). Any ideas out there? Is there a calibration that needs to be performed when sensors are replaced?
Thank you all in advance.
Geoff
