Default Beaverun BMW/Porsche Challenge

Here's some video from the Sunday feature race at the BMW/Porsche Challenge at Beaverun on July 9th. It was part of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix week. It was also my first race weekend as a rookie. Rookies had to start at the back because we didn't have any practice starts. Finished 2nd overall and 2nd in class

Cli ck me

Default The Wonger and I were supposed to come out for that...

But it looks like we'll be playing at VIR north next weekend. I still want to get back to the Beave sometime soon though.

Nice. Do you get yelled at for moving your hands all over the steering wheel?

Default Nah....

I used to grip in the "traditional" fashion at 3 & 9, but have found the shuffle method much better for me. I am able to maintain a much better feel & leverage through turns.

Default I think you have much better control if you keep your hands at close to 9 & 3

no matter where the steering wheel is. YOu maintain leverage & the ability to maximally correct if te rear comes around or the front end pushes.

However, I still make my novice and intermediate students start with the traditional 9 & 3. I let more advanced students do what ever they feel comfortable with.
