Anybody know this guy that crashed at Putnam (quattro coupe).

I'd probably have a broken neck if that car (pictured above) was mine.
I don't have the double A-pillar bars like you do on the turbo...just the ones that go through the dash and down to the footwells.
You race this past weekend in the regional at NHMS with any of Dave's "dirty gas" cars?

hmm, looking in your pic post, looks to me like you have them
This is your car, right?

The little gussets in the corner between the main hoop and the side hoops are also standard on Dave's cages, and were not on the trashed Audi's cage.
RE NHMS, I think I'm one of the "dirty gas" cars - whatever he's putting in there is some serious $/gallon. Problem is, everyone has to run the stuff and use a pro motor or you are off the pace. And at NHMS you are a little off the pace if you don't have an NB since it's a torque track. I did OK, finished 6th of 35 and 6th of 32 in the Sat points race and the Sun qual race. Sun points race was not so hot, my down pipe disconnected from the exhaust manifold (wtf?) and the loss of backpressure dropped the power and allowed a couple of cars to reel me in. Plus for a lap or two I was trying to make sure nothing serious had broken because the sound of the car totally changed. Finished maybe 8th or 9th.
Also, I rented a spec racer ford and ran that group. Very fun car, even easier to drive than an SM. The rental car had old tires and a weak motor and add my inexperience in the car and you get backmarker. But it was a lot of fun.
You gonna come up to any of the NHMS races later this year?

It's called a "concussion". He got his bell rung, and thinks it's due to...
..."poisonous brake fluid fumes".
"Uhh...Dude....you had a concussion. That's why there is a big blank spot in your memory.
If you doubt my diagnosis, please go look at your cage."

probelm is, others, who were on teh track with him reported that he simply drove straight off.
They didn't see any brake lights or attempts to slow down the car...
Sure his blank spot is due to concussion, but why it happened he may never know. Scary stuff either way.

Hmm...guess I do have double protection near the a-pillars.
I never noticed them getting in/out though, perhaps because they're wrapped up in foam.
Nice finishes. I'm starting to think that racing may not be in the cards for me in the near future. It's getting more and more expensive, is going to require me to find a truck and trailer to tow with, and the costs to just be competitive in SM are astronomical.
I may make it to a race or two to spectate later this summer. I'm headed out to Dave's this afternoon to pick up some John Deere snake oil for my tranny and diff, and to grab some more "scuffed" tires.
