Default A hello, and a question.

Hello everyone.

At the moment I have a 1980 Honda cm200t. But I haven't bothered to make it street legal. So I am riding it through the trails and some back roads only.

Now for the question.

I was wondering what you guys think of the new Honda cbr125 bike. There is a link if you want to go look at it. I was thinking about getting one. But 125cc seems like a small bike. I was thinking that bike or a cheap 250. Any opinions on a bike would be great.

Thanks.<ul><li><a href="http://honda.ca/go/en/index.html">http://honda.ca/go/en/index.html</a</li></ul>

Default I'd probably start on a 500cc or 600cc bike for the streets. This way you won't have to worry about

getting punted from behind.

If you want to stay Honda, try the F4i.

Default Should I still look for a 500cc even though i only weigh ~140lbs? and...

is it at about 500cc the insurance starts to get really high? thats what it is like with the snowmobiles/atvs around here. also as far as brand goes, it really doesn't matter. I just thought that the cbr125 was a good price for a new bike that had a warrenty. it just seems really underpowered.

Default for the streets, a 250cc is ok, but if you need to take it on highways...it just sounds like the

engine's gonna blow. You'll be fine at your weight, 500-600cc is very manageable. You just want something that can get to speed in a decent amount of time as well as make a pass easily. I've ridden a 250cc and it's good for city streets, but not something I'd want to ride on if I spent some time on highways.

how about a honda cb500? Relaxed riding position, easy to maintain and reliable.

Default I'd look into getting the Suzuki GS500F or the Kawa EX500.

I think either of those should suit you just fine. Insurance gets higher from 600-749, then even higher for 749 and up.

Is the EX500 and the 500R the same thing?

Default Yup. AKA GPZ500...

All the same bike. I think they changed the name to 500r to make it sound more appealing..

Default I went and looked at a GS500F but the bike looks very large. the fairings themselves seem to be

alot wider then what I am looking for in a bike. Does the GS500 without the fairings make the width alot smaller?

I was talking to the sales rep about a few of the deals they had there. and then I asked him about any other bikes around that cc. and he said that in 2008 they are going to be coming out with a 250cc model. is this correct?

Default I haven't heard about any GS250's, but if you really want...

.. You can search for 125 cc bikes from Europe (Aprilia, Honda, Cagiva etc). They're mainly sold in EU for beginners, but you might be able to find some stateside. They're fully faired sportbikes.. Awesome starting bikes IMO. I wish they sold these here... They'd be so fun to ride.
