Inherited an OEM RS4 bumper today... for track use.
Swapped my modded S4/RS4 bumper to MoA4r, a local silver S4 guy for his OEM RS4 bumper. It was correctly modified back in the day, but it's definitely seen better days. On one side the modifying has cracked, and there's spidering in the paint in several spots from hitting parking stops, etc. It was also pretty poorly repainted in the last 2 years, the orange peel is pretty noticable. Beats paying $2000 for one retail though.
I have about 2 months to get it looking presentable for the next track event. Will need to sand it partially down, fix the cracks, and extend the vents on the driver's side to better cool the oil cooler where the SMIC sat. Splitter will bolt up to it again, and will be able to come off for winter use. Also thinking about intergrating <a href="http://www.dfcis.com/racex/ejecting.html">DFC
I Racex</a> fasteners so it's a bit more manageable at the track. Here's a similar idea used by the <a href="http://public.fotki.com/BlueTTop/mods/dzus_fasteners/">TT'ers for their engine covers</a>...
I hate custom bumpers...
R.
P.S. Here's some pictures when it was on his car when new.

why would you modify such a gorgeous bumper to add on all these bits which just arent needed???
why make it a track bumper when you already have one? I would fix it up and get it redone and use it as a normal everyday bumper.

This bumper needs as much help as that A4 bumper with the Oettinger lip...
Not devoting months of work like that again. Besides, this bumper will be way more functional with the addition of 4 discrete Racex fasteners and won't use the 6 or so rusty screws that require the bumper to be screwed into the fender like the Rieger bumpers.
Also, I now have no track bumper since my S4 bumper is gone now...
Going from this...

how does diff fasteners make it more functional?
<i>"Also, I now have no track bumper since my S4 bumper is gone now..."</i>
psst, Rog... "track bumper" = any bumper that you could afford to scrape up and care less about. The thought of you putting a rare pcs of component just for track use... ayeee! <cringes>
You may want to reconsider?
