Default Anyone know a good Virginia Lemon Law attorney?

This 2004 S4 that I bought is a disaster. After getting some time to work out some "issues" i had with the car I found that there were over 20 codes in the system which seem to be related to some sort of electrical fault since there are so many. 20 codes and no check engine light? Yeah, the surface mount soldered on LED had been removed from the board. The kicker is that it has a valid virginia state inspection obtained recently before I bought it. Wouldn't a real inspector check for that?

Other odd things is that the carpet has been replaced. I just thought they took good care of the car. I don't see any signs of water damage yet. Of course the carfax was clean too.

Any thoughts?

Default IIRC, Lemon Law is only applicable to new cars, not CPO/used cars

Are the codes for the same thing? Maybe someone never cleared them

did you buy it from a dealer or a private individual? Maybe some recourse there?

Default In NC OBDII would throw a red flag to the scanner whether CEL was on or not.

....that is, IF the inspector actually hooked it up to the machine, which I believe they have to do if they're not committing out-and-out fraud. You should be able to see where it was inspected if the receipt is in the car, but proving those codes were there before the inspection might be tough.

VA state safety inspection doesn't check for codes. Only emissions does.

2nd. If it's CPO, take it up with Audi of America.

Default and its only applicable to a single repair that has been attempted to be fixed a number of times

The car in question here is nowhere near being classified as a lemon.

Default but if the codes have nothing to do with the engine, fuel or emissions system it doesn't matter

and if the codes are unrelated to the systems mentioned then there's no reason for it to throw a CEL.

Default Carfax only reports documented damage/repairs...DTCs can rack up quick and some aren't...

...critical enough to trigger the engine light. Of course if it was removed, then the previous owner committed fraud. I know there is a federal law against tampering with odometers, I wonder if the same applies to the CEL.

Anyhow, good luck with it. :/

It's not lemmon law, its common law fraud, if the person who sold it to you knew of these issues.
