Yeah, I know - I'm too nice - but I like to help friends if I can

a few hours under a car doing a service isn't too bad - I will try and teach their 10 year old some of it too - my daughter was never interested in car maintenance

Its actually a she - not that it makes any difference - She is a close friend of my wife and I - so no "benefits" either! :-)

I'm hoping the drivetrain can be ignored this time - if only for the extra £30 (yeah - I'm a Brit) for the oils which she can't afford

I will double check the fluids (and the need for AdBlue - which I now know about - but do not know if it actually uses it)

Thanks for the heads up on the location of the cabin filter - that will likely have had me scratching my head for a while - though that is where it is in a Seat Ibiza I guess I would have found it eventually :-)

    Thanks for your help

    Phil

Phil, he'd better be paying you...no, seriously. On an Audi you should always start with a scan for stored trouble codes (VAG compatible diagnostic scantool), and Audi uses triple-square fittings on just about everything, so you will need triple-square sockets or similar to remove oil plug, underbelly splash pans, brake rotors, and event to access the cabin filter box (under the glove box). Make sure what engine is in it; TDI engines have very specific oil & filter requirements, for example, and if you change any driveline fluids under the car (the diffs & transfer case are dead simple to drain & fill while splash pans are off the car and it's slightly lifted for access/clearance under the car). Be absolutely sure to verify the proper spec fluid required for the application on these cars, and use exactly what is specified.
