    That start button can be as simple as a key fob not being recognized by the car. If you got more than one set, lock / unlock with key fob. If the led indicator is not lighting up when you press buttons in key remote fob, you need a new CR2032 battery in it, and it wouldn't get recognized by the car for that reason, but the key would still work...make sense? Likewise, if it locks/unlocks the car doors via fob, then insert key into ignition to start car, cycle it back off & remove key, then press start button to see if dash lights come on or not. Foot on brake is required to actually start car via the button method. Be sure to read the user guide if still in the glove box; it's extremely helpful on this car, and a good read. You will learn a lot...I did.
