When viewing archived threads, be sure to read from the beginning and through the entire thread, as your answer usually lies in the middle somewhere, not at the last posting, etc.
Also, you need a scantool (VAGCOM) for this car to read the trouble codes on it; without that data you are just tossing darts in the dark and hoping for the best basically. Basic, OBD2 type scan tools cannot read the underlying trouble codes on this or other German, VW group cars, etc. They (OBD2 type) can, however, give a basic read out on the MIL/CEL codes that light up on the dash....but they can't show you any of the captured codes or data the car keeps for troubleshooting purposes.
