    Hey,

Had a question for you on the cam tensioner on D2 S8/A8.

Ive recently started to hear some chatter at idle and very low speed. From reading your threads on the matter, I have a few questions.

First, when you changed your cam tensioner pads, did you change the tensioner itself as well?

I saw your second thread regarding the "internal adjuster locking pin" failing causing the chatter. Is this pin/spring inside the tensioner? Im assuming the fix for this was a brand new tensioner? Did this failure happen AFTER you had already done the pads?

I just ordered some new pads and plan on having them changed, but it seems it may need to be the whole tensioner unit itself for full repair? Im going to check oil level and pressure. I do burn a little bit and have gone on a few road trips lately. Also the extreme cold we are experiencing in the Northeast might be playing a factor with some parts being noisier than usual in the negative temps!

    Thanks for your help!

    Dan

    Hi, related to your questions:

    - VIN number is '97 as well as licence plate. I found out that one of the pre owners was a drug dealer who had a lot of cash. In the Netherlands we have a law stating that if transactions > 10k euro are made, this has to be notified to authorities. So the dealer could never buy a new car and decided to have it converted and pay it in cash via a 'vague'garage. Then the car was confiscated by the authorities and sold back via an auction. I bought it from a garage who bought it from the auction including all original papers
-> You also have photos of 2 different interiors..LHD and RHD(?). 1 pic is from another forum UK member, I don't know how to delete it
    - "R8 engine" that looks the same as a D2's 40V v8? --> The audi dealer told me.... :-(

    Hello SilverD2,
How's everything? How do you turn on/off the seat belt chime on D2 with VCDS?

    Thanks,

By the way, I just sold my boat and will get a cashier's check tomorrow so I'm in pretty good shape. That doesn't mean I spending like a drunken sailor and I still intend to do the arms on my wife's car.

However, do you still have the cam tension adjustor? If you do, I think I might be interested. If nothing else, my buying it will be a thank you for my pestering you.

Hey this is Paul from www.GruvenParts.com

I saw your very detailed write up on the intake actuator arms replacement :

    https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2801728

I was wondering if we an post this in the DIY section of our site, so everyone can benefit from this.

We can put whatever credit information you want in there to ensure everyone knows you wrote it.

Let me know if that would be OK, and thanks for such an excellent write up.
