I have done trans service, (new filter, pentosin atf, and new gasket) I did check the fluid and pan very close to see if anything major was there but nothing other than the normal darker fluid at 80k to be expected but no real debris found.
The results are just piece of mind with no change in my display window and still bright prnds cluster and no tiptronic read but all functions as before and same downshift upon stopping.

S6 transmission prnsd bright.
I purchased a 2002 s6 with 80k. knew it had a few issues that I have fixed. ( cam plug seals, valve cover gaskets, oil cooler coolant leak, replaced with the aluminum pipe and o ring seals rather than plastic replacement.)
I am familiar to these cars However the transmission problem I have is very unique.
Display shows bright (auxiliary mode) prnds. here is the interesting thing, when selecting tiptronic shift no display of 54321 but tiptronic functions at shifter and steering wheel shifter.
Prnds stays brightly lit. Drive mode shifts and sport mode too, I notice when coming to a stop the trans downshifts in 2cnd and 1st gear very noticeable as if sport mode.

I need to vag com codes to pull them.

Anyone out there ever had this problem where trans functions normal but bright display?
I hope it does not go to fail safe mode!
