Anywhere to buy 100 octane gas in Jacksonville?
I've never tried it...regular gas is expensive enough, so might as well see what the good stuff does for me this weekend. Who's got it and how much is it these days?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: If you dont have the programming for it, dont waste your money
Too much octane isn't a good thing either. It won't hurt your car but doesn't help it either. With its slower burn you'll end up with a rich condition, and I would assume the computer compensating for it. Now if you're on the edge of detonation then its helpful. BUt yeah the Sunoco at Beach and Foster sells it out of the pump. Or you can go to Well's Performance on N University and get it just ask for unleaded and bring a gas can.

WHAT? Could you please explain how that leads to rich conditions? Once again a case of AW B.S....
You people really don't know **** about cars! But you have plenty of money to throw at cars thinking you know a lot. The Florida site is more comical than the sunday funnies!!!

You sure about that? I've seen cars that run race gas consistently suffer from cylinder washing and
oil contamination. This was on a 100 octane file. Around town there isn't a way to run enough base timing to burn off all that fuel so you wind up with a surplus of unburned fuel in the combustion chamber. Also known as running rich.

Exactly what Shane said. Doesn't matter if its my Neon, my V-8 car, or an Audi, octane affects them the same. The more octane you have the slower the burn rate of the fuel which is what gives you the cooler combustion chamber temperatures, which helps in controlling detonation. If you have a turbo car with lots of boost/cylinder pressure you'll need more octane obviously, but when not in boost it could cause a sluggish feeling if the fuel isn't being completely burned off.
