Question about forum software
I'm just curious, why exactly does AudiWorld continue to use this very archaic click-threaded forum software?
It's VERY time consuming to read an entire thread as I have to constantly click through to read the NEXT reply...
Why is AudiWorld so resistent to upgrading to a more modern, easy to use and easy to read forum software?
I've been a lurker here for 10 years and I just never could get involved because I don't feel like I should be using the same archaic system I used to use back when I used to dial into a local BBS or newsgroup server back in 1992.

*bump
my suggestion continue lurking. This is a whole lote easier to use than the rest of the forum software. I don't care for *bumping* topics to the top if I have no interest in those topics.
This way I can track my topics which I like and is easier to get a reply to what you asked.

Easier to see which post someone replies to than phpBB
I know that you didn't say phpBB, but that is what most people seem to like. I find it very difficult to figure out to which someone is replying in forums that use that software.
If you want see the entire thread with this software that you claim is archaic, try going to "Preferences" and selecting "Show all of thread instead of single messages?" What's that, you don't know where "Preferences" is located? Look directly above your "Subject" when posting.

Re: Easier to see which post someone replies to than phpBB
yeah, I know about that feature. I have it enabled.
I mean, in terms of archaic... I wrote a similar piece of software in 1995 for a local dial up BBS server.
I don't particularly like phpBB, but it's cheap and to integrate, has a relatively robust search function and is very user scalable and skinable.
Saabnet.com is the same way too. They use a similar old style board claiming that the newer boards are 'too flashy'. On the same point, they have a censor system that cuts back on redundant posts and forces the user to search if their topic relates to another.
