Can someone please explain why vB is better than KAWF

see, if this was in kawf, you would know exactly which post you were replying to, without having to quote it. now, i have no idea which quote you are responding to. and if you would have quoted the message in your post, it would be unnecessary filler.

Yes, that is a point I thought I made earlier
I think what they are referring to is the fact that Linear users may be responding to someone specific in a thread but if they do not "quote" that person then the Threaded viewers wont necessarily know who that person is responding to. OTOH, Linear viewers will most likely see "random" looking responses and they might have to discern what post the response is specifically to.

Actually vB done properly works well. This implementation s@cks anu$. A good vB would have been perfectly fine. They could still fix it. Like put the threaded tree for the threaded option AT THE TOP of the pages. Works great on the GOOD vB sites.
As noted above, it was clearly done purely for the back-end cost factor - standardize for support purposes.
