You can... in the current screen your viewing this click on display modes in the upper right hand corner. Then click on threaded mode. It makes it a little more bearable. I still hate it though!

But that doesn't work at Forum level - and that's where it's needed most. So that you don't HAVE to open a thread to see if it's interesting.
At Forum level you NEED to be able to see the title of ALL the posts in a thread so you can decide if the thread is interesting enough to spend time reading.
The old format offered that, this new format doesn't and it stinks.
