Hi, I want to upgrade my front door speakers. I'd like to do both the tweeters and woofers and was wondering if I use the existing wiring if I can avoid using the crossovers?

I thought I read that the Sympony had the crossover built in?

If not, what complications might I have if I don't use the recommended crossover?

Thanks!

Hi to all,

This is all Information I myself...

Hi to all,

This is all Information I myself have gathered from the MECP Installers Guide book.

Alright Here's the Question!

I am trying to figure out how much pull on my alternator I am getting from the amp.

Here is the formula We use to figure this out

I = (Po - n*Po + Po) / V

Now

I = amperes
Po=RMS
n=efficiency
V=voltage

So for me its:

I = (3000 - .8*3000 + 3000) / 13.8

So I do this

3000*.8 and i get 2400

3000-2400=600

600+3000

3600/13.8

260.87 This is my amperage draw correct?

and if I'm correct for everyone else heres an easier equation for this:

I = (2-n)Po/V

So for me this would go

1. 2-.8 =1.2

2. 1.2*3000=3600

3. 3600/13.8

And there we go. 260.87!!!!!

Now, We must remember that Most Class D Amplifiers have a 80% Efficiency Rating and Most Class A/B Amplifiers have a 60-70% efficiency Rating!

3G MMI Jukebox (SD/HDD) questions

I've got a 2010 S5 with the 3G MMI system. I've...

I've got a 2010 S5 with the 3G MMI system. I've been playing around with the Jukebox features and have a few questions about it:

1) Is there any way to import playlists into the Jukebox? The MMI will recognize my playlists on an SD card but when I import the music to the HDD there doesn't seem to be any option for getting the playlists on there too.

2) Is there any way to do a "play all" on a folder or category (i.e. Artist)? For instance if I have an Artist folder with 3 albums I'd like to be able to play all the songs by the artist, not be limited to playing just one album at a time. I could maybe get around this with a playlist,but that would require a solution to #1.

3) Is there any way to get the MMI to index the files on an SD card by track info (like it does when you import - artist, album, etc). Currently it seems the only way to navigate is by file structure.

Much appreciation in advance for any info on these questions.

Thanks,
W

Hello everyone,

Here's my setup:

- Pioneer AVIC-D3 deck
- 6.5" Alpine Type-R components up front (SPR-17S)
- Alpine 5.25" Type-R speakers in the rear (SPR-13C)

I am leaning against running a sub, so I want to make sure that my speakers are properly powered. I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I want the speakers to be run to their full potential or close to it for a reasonable price. Not just running off the deck.

To me, a lot of 4 channel amps seem the same or very similar - I'm just looking to max out my setup without going to a sub setup. I'll probably pick something up on eBay or Craigslist in new or lightly used condition. Alpine, JL Audio, etc. preferred.

Suggestions appreciated!

ok I have a GPS which is cool, but I found this online and wondered if it works like it says it does, basicly you down load poi maps that are updated as needed. when your moving around in your car, it 'alerts you' to 'known' speed traps and traffic cameras.

Sounds cool ( I want it), does anyone on here use something like this? I think there are a couple of sites that do this. this is the one I was looking at.

Hi, Wondering where I could locate a 2004 A6 rear door speaker for the bose system? Mine is blown and I really need to replace it. I had local car audio place tell me he couldn't get a 2 ohm speaker that it requires, but he could run a 4 ohm but it would be at lower volume.
I don't want lower volume.
Then one place said that I needed to replace the speaker with an OEM speaker to keep from messing things up.
Not sure what to do.
If anyone has any ideas or know where I could locate a bose speaker, please let me know.
Thanks, Robin

Can anyone tell me what other differences the B&O audio will have in a B8 S4 without NAV+ besides these two:

You obviously lose the 10GB music storage space in the NAV hard disk.

You also lose the "sound focus" feature of the B&O system.

Does anyone know of other "losses" (or differences)?

I've read on a forum that you lose the digital interface and are left with only an analog interface, but that doesn't sound right to me. Don't you still have an iPod dock connector in the glove box that transmits its stored music digitally to the audio system?

My plan (the car is on order) is to connect an iPod touch (64GB) to that interface and control it with the MMI. Will that work?

TIA

2004 Audi A8L

My satellite radio quite working...I keep getting a "linking" message. Research tells me it is either the satellite radio box or the head unit is bad due to some kind of antenna switching control in the head unit. I want to plug my sirius box into another Audi to see if it works.

The Sirius box in the A8 is in the trunk under the panel on the left side and does not even have to come out, the plugs can just be removed and swapped over temporarily. since my subscription is live it will either work and I will know it is the head unit, and if it doesn't i know i need a new box...I assume it is equally accessible on other models so if so, any Audi model newer than 2004 should work.

Will take less than 15 minutes and I am willing to swap for beer, wine some fine spirits or a good slab of steak if you don't drink....

I would appreciate anyone within 45 mins or so let me know if they can help out.

Thanks!

Im purchasing an after market navigation system...

Im purchasing an after market navigation system that requires a can bus connection. First of, i researched online and found out that it does not only '04 and up. Can someone assure me if this is correct. If so, what does it have?? I saw this on the following link: http://trade.allproducts.com/message-326502.htm

Now towards the bottom of the page its says:

FAQ: Do the CAN-Bus Interfaces also work with older vehicles that use the k-line?
A: Yes! The HEX-COM+CAN and HEX-USB+CAN are fully backwards compatible with older vehicles that use either single or dual K-lines as well, so they work with all VW/Audi/SEAT/Skoda from 1996-2005.

It looks like thats what i need, but i have no knowledge of this and would like to boost my confidence with you alls help. Can this be found in us?

I greatly appreciate you alls, advise and opinions. Thanks in advance!
