***Avoid*** Valenti Motors - Watertown, CT

Hello all,

I am not a regular poster on this...

Hello all,

I am not a regular poster on this site. I prefer to do more of my time driving then talking about cars. Let me give you some background information to my problem with Valenti Motors in Watertown, CT. Sorry for the length of the post.

I purchased a Black 2009 Audi TTS Prestige in September of 2009 from Danbury Audi in Danbury, CT. I chose Danbury because of past poor experiences with Valenti and due to a lower cost vehicle. I recently passed 5,000 miles and inquired about my 5,000 mile service. I contacted Danbury Audi and learned that the service takes approximately 2 hours. Given that Danbury Audi is about an hour away, I simply could not find an available time to make it to Danbury Audi for the service. My only available service location was Valenti due to their proximity to my work.

I dropped the car off on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at approximately 10:30 a.m. I retrieved my car later on in the day at approximately 4:00 p.m. When I arrived, my car was parked in the shade and appeared to be looking fine. Later on that evening while getting gas, I noticed what appeared to be dry wax that wasn’t wiped off. However, it was not wax. There were scratches, thousands of them, all over the clear coat of the car. I immediately called Valenti only to get the service department’s voicemail. I left a message hoping for an easy resolution.. Today, I had yet to hear from Valenti, so I placed another call to them. I was referred to a service manager by the name of Lou Hart. We set up an appointment for later on in the afternoon.

I arrived at Valenti and met with Lou Hart. I showed him my areas of concern (the numerous scratches in the clear coat of the car). He said that the scratches must have been there before hand and they simply weren’t seen because there was wax on the car previously. He said a wax job would take care of the scratches. He admitted his service department did a lousy job of getting the dirt off the car, yet he said they couldn’t possibly be from their service department because they use top of the line chamois to dry the car. I informed him that it wouldn’t make a difference what kind of drying cloth they used on the car if they didn’t eliminate the dirt and road gunk from the cars surface. He simply scoffed at this notion and said there was nothing they can do, because they didn’t cause the scratches.

Unfortunately, this hasn’t been my first poor experience with Valenti Audi. On my previous car, a 2004 Audi A4 1.8T, they failed to do a brake job that I had paid for. They also failed to describe the limitations for their iPod connection after I made it clear that I was expecting it to be able to change songs directly from the iPod. They refused to refund me the $300 or so it cost for the connection even though I hadn’t even left the lot when I voiced my initial complaint about the ineptitude of the iPod connection.

I have gone ahead and contacted Audi of America. They are looking into the situation. In the mean time, my best advice would be to avoid Valenti VW, Valenti Audi, Valenti Saab, and Valenti Lotus. They obviously do not care about treating their customers with class and concern. If anyone would like any more information, I would be glad to discuss this with you in even more depth.

TT-RS Roadster update after 5,000 miles...

Hi All,
Thought I should update you all on my...

Hi All,
Thought I should update you all on my TT-RS Roadster after 5k miles of mixed road use.

You can read my first series of reviews from delivery by clicking on the following links;
1) http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2758485
2) http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?p=23841075

EXHAUST - 10/10
I have the optional Sports exhaust and it is bedding in nicely. It is just FAB. The following gears/speed/rpm combinations really brings out that volume and it sounds pretty similar to an LP640;
1) 4th gear at 40MPH from 1.8k to 2.2k RPM and past 4k RPM

2) 5th gear at 50MPH from 1.8k to 2.2k RPM and past 4k RPM

3) 6th gear at 60MPH from 1.8k to 2.2k RPM and past 4k RPM

I have as yet to find a 1 mile long tunnel to test the exhaust note. Still in the planning

BRAKES - 10/10
STILL Herculean!

PERFORMANCE - 10/10
335BHP is more than adequate for the car. More power, IMO, 'may' affect the balance of the car. I have never wished for more power at any speed and I doubt I ever will. There is plenty of performance in this little rocket.

STEERING – 10/10
Still sharp and engaging – though I have made a change to the tyres which I will explain under the 'HANDLING' section below.

FUN FACTOR – 10/10
YES!, YES!, YES!, need I say more!

HANDLING - 10/10
I have upgraded my tyres from 245/40 to 275/35 PS2. I find it rubs under extreme cornering IF there is also camber change during the cornering. Other than that, there is nothing to worry about. The difference now is that the steering is a great deal more poised & precise than before and also the front grip gives me greater confidence compared to before. Sure the car tremlines more so than before however I prefer the current set-up compared to before.

The PS2 is just some tyre...I can now really see why Audi rate the TT-RS highly than any road car they have built to date...discounting the R8 V10. Begs the question why not fit 'proper' tyres to the car from the factory? I have also kept to 18" wheels as I feel the car drives best at that size compared to 19"...IMHO, anyone who goes 20" on the TT-RS will regret the handling & balance effect it WILL have on the car.

SPORTS BUTTON - 10/10
I use this 100% now as I simply LUV the effects on the exhaust, throttle and handling.

CONCLUSION...thus far
1) Would I change anything specced = Add Cruise Control for when going through speed traps...it is NOT easy to keep the throttle steady when the Sports button is pressed.

2) Would I buy another TT-RS – Definite YES!

3) Is it worth the money for a ‘TT’ – Put simply, YES!

4) Would I ever sell it – Now that I have used it extensively and also had a drive time in the R8 V10 Coupe, not even for an R8 V10 Spider (cancelled my order after the drive in the Coupe...Gallardo Spider is better IMHO). I own other higher performance cars for when I need to drive 'something' else more explosive and less stealth. I also prefer the V10 on the Gallardo...sounds more like how a V10 should sound like.

5) Negative points thus far – I wish I could drive it on the race track every day before I go to work!!!

6) Positive points – IMHO, still the best quality ‘small’ sports car at a relatively bargain base price on the market at the moment. All the negative reviews thus far even makes it more desirable IMO...well, I hate to conform and what did Adam & Eve do when told not to eat the 'bad' apple...you know what I mean?

MODS
1) I am awaiting the release of the Haldex Sports Controller for GEN 4. This should allow the drive split to be moved more rearwards. IMO, this one simple mod will make the TT-RS just perfect and should improve the handling further.

2) Upgraded exhaust to heighten the volume from 1.5k rpm to 7k rpm. In summary, there are flat spots when the exhaust is relatively too quiet.

3) Maybe a re-map after the above changes have been made - I doubt it will improve the 'balance' of the car however am prepared to try and see.

4) Maybe upgrade the Audio. I simply find the IPOD controls on the std audio to be unusable and pointless. An alpine head unit will be the upgrade.

Already posted this in the OEM US & Euro Spec...

Already posted this in the OEM US & Euro Spec forum, but have yet to get a reply, thus im posting on this side of the forum for some help [:d]

THE PICTURES FOR REFERENCE:
Manual Transmission

S-Tronic

Basically what i am trying to do is swap out my S-tronic shifter for the MT shifter. Parts for swapping are the shift plate [Gear Indicator(P-R-N-D±-S)], the shift boot and the knob.

If anyone knows a DIY for the shift plate aspect, that would be great!
Also if anyone knows where i can purchase the plate somewhere other than the dealership, that would be mint!

Thanks in advance!

Note to TT owners. The rumors are true. When Audi re-flashes your DSG control unit you will loose the gear indicator to the far left of your dash display. I complained as have other owners but was told tough stuff. Only way Audi might fix this problem is if enough owners complain to the district tech advisors. Or maybe a class action would get some attention - sign me up. You have to go over the heads of the dealers as they could give a _ _ _ _ less. I miss this feature, was really handy when tracking the car to know what gear your in when navagating turns with short straights. The loss of this function was done for the convience of Audi (a quick fix) not for the customer. Thanks Audi for DUMBING DOWN a sweet car.

Audi Auto Lease Programs – Effective November 2009

These lease programs are provided courtesy of LeaseCompare.com by dealer partners and are NOT for redistribution.

Follow these 3 steps for the best lease deal!

1) Use the data listed below each vehicle model, and the Lease Formula at the bottom of this page, to calculate a manufacturer (captive) lease payment.

2) Compare special Bank Lease programs by clicking on the vehicle model name to see instant lease payments.

3) You’ve done your homework, now choose the best lease and start driving your car!

NOTE: Choosing a lease program, captive or bank, with the lowest money factor and a realistic residual value will provide you with the best overall leasing option.

Lease Payment Calculation Formula:
(Cap Cost – Residual Value) / Term = Depreciation
Depreciation + Interest = Base Monthly Payment

Terms Used in Lease Formula:
CAP COST = Vehicle Purchase Price (amount financed)
RESIDUAL VALUE = MSRP (window sticker) X Residual %
TERM = Length of Lease in Months (3 years = 36 months)
BASE RATE = Dealer’s Buy Rate (dealer can mark this up for profit)

NOTE: The manufacturer (captive) lease programs provided are for reference only. Base Rates may vary by region. Your dealer has the option of offering you a higher rate.
