Wasn't sure how often you cross examine the Q5...

Wasn't sure how often you cross examine the Q5 section, so I'll post it here as well, mods can move/delete if necessary. Thanks!

I have priced out both the Q5 and Q7 with pretty much the same features:
Q7:
Premium Plus
3.6L Engine
S-line
Total: $55,850

Pros:
Bigger

Cons:
More expensive
Slower

Q5:
Prestige
3.6L
S-line
Audi Drive Select
Total: $53,950

Pros:
Cheaper
Faster
Has ADS

Cons:
Smaller

Right now my wife and I dont have any kids, but are planning to start trying in May so we're looking into getting a nicer family car. I know that the Q5 should be fine, but I was wondering if the Q7 would be worth the extra money. It will be primarily my wife's car, and she's very tiny, 5'1"(on a good day) and I am worried if it will be too big for her, she currently drives a 2001 Honda CRV.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

-John

coolant fluid level low indicator on

This is our 1st Audi and I got a couple of questions about the coolant low indicator coming on.
This morning ( 30 deg F)when I went out to start the Q7 the center display indicated that the coolant fluid is low. When I looked into the coolant reservoir it was low. I had to add at least 52 ounces of water to bring it back to the right level.

The car is a 2008 Q7 with 25K miles do you guys thing at that age and mileage I would have a coolant leak?
The car lives in Massachusetts and this morning it was 30deg F . Prior to this we have had no problems of overheating and the temp gauge always sits at dead center temp. I was driving the Q7 yesterday, and I did not notice or get any warnings that the Q7 was overheating or had any problems. Normally the Q7 sitting in the driveway but for the past 2 weeks I have been using the Q7 every day.

Do you guy’s thing with the coolant running low but the gauge temp not overheating could it have hurt the engine in any way?
I asked the dealership and they said to just keep an eye on it, at 25k miles there should not be any coolant leaks.

Chances are you may not have had the opportunity...

Chances are you may not have had the opportunity or need to change a tire with the spare but I was surprised with the (overkill??) equipement and procedures to execute a tire change.

I'm 42. I've changed many flat tires, and I found my self with the owners manual going through things step by step.

I didn't even realize that we had an air-compressor with built in pressure gauge that could be run off the various outlets around the car to adjust tire pressure (even if you didn't have a flat) - rather than dumping quarters into a gas station air comp. Although it may be worth .50 to avoid trying to jam the cord and airhose/pressure gauge back into the storage compartment on the compressor.

The inflatable spare is interesting - better than a donut.. Was suprised that the car's bass-box for the bose sound system was mounted to the spare.

Can't wait to see if the spare deflates to the same size it was to start with. ??

You have to remember exactly how you pull tools/jack out of the trunk to get it to fit properly back in.

And then the alignment pin is interesting - have not seen anything like that before for mounting spares - makes sense and certainly makes mounting the tire easier.

...question really for Justforfun or anyone else...

...question really for Justforfun or anyone else who can assist. Our 07 Q7 3.0TDi is coming up to the 3 year old point in May 2010. IF I place a replacement order now I can have the new car by then.

We have done 34k miles on our Q7 and it has been faultless...am not convinced to replace it as there is nothing wrong with it...the wife uses it 100% now. So I will consider extending the Audi warranty for another year instead unless there is that much of a difference compared to a 2010 model. We are not swayed by LED DRL or 'smoother' buttons as improvements thus reason to upgrade. Visually, both an '07 and a '10 look almost identical to me...am I missing something here?

Does anyone know if there will be an all new model within the next 24mths - in which case we will wait - or is the current facelift likely to be the only change for a 'few' years yet? Audi really got the design and function spot on first time round and it seems there is not much they plan for now.

We will go for a 3.0TDi again...thought about the 4.2TDi however we simply do not need the extra power.

Any comments will be much appreciated.

Thx

Had my 2009 q7 3.6 premium plus for about 5 months now.
Everything was great until Sunday.
I was backing out of a parking lot when I noticed my backup censor was beeping but the screen did not revert to the backup camera view.
I shut off the car, restarted it and then tried to restart the whole MMI system but to no avail.
Now, everything still works.
But it doesn't jump to the backup camera view while backing up, or when adjusting the AC/seat warmer the screen remains on what I set it on.
Took it back to the dealership today and they seem to have no clue what's going on...can anyone offer any insight?

Thanks

Question for you guys, sorry if this is basic,...

Question for you guys, sorry if this is basic, but I'm still learning about the vehicle. I didn't trust my dealer's knowledge after he said that the Q7 didn't have the option for power adjustable steering, so I figure I'd ask you guys.
Does the Q7 have the ability to play songs over bluetooth if you have an iphone for example? Or only if connected to the cable? Reason I ask is, I've recently rented a Ford vehicle with Microsoft's sync feature and it had some very very nice features when it came to bluetooth and I wanted to find out if these were available with the Q7. One of the features was whenever I started the car, it connected to the phone and resumed playing from where it paused when I was leaving the car.
If this has been answered in another post, please direct me to it. I didn't find anything like that when I searched.
Thanks.
