Laptop BT: need a new laptop, mainly for internet & MS office.. what do you guys recommend?

looking for something smaller and lightweight. won't be bringing it to work on a daily basis, though occasionally. price range <$1500 or so.

before ppl start recommending thinkpads, i've had bad luck in recent months with my thinkpad t42 and will prob not buy another one.

At this very moment I'm using an HP dv2000.

Just bought it for ~$750. 4GB of RAM with a 250GB hard drive (2GHz processor I believe). More than enough to use MS Office and the internet. By the way, it's only 5lbs. Very portable, but only has a 14" screen.

I've been very happy with both HP and yes, Acer.

$800 buys a lot!

Happy with my HP, the latest issue of consumer reports talks about laptops and

has a wide range of ratings for different sizes, price points, abilities/performance (and battery life/weight) so you may want to check that out. September Issue as I just now looked at my copy. May have it online as well but then you need to sign up/pay.
