Whose running winters on their stock 17" rims for their S4? What dimension tire are you running?

Not winters. A/S Contisport Contact. 235/45/17 and they've been holding up great!
I've been very content with my decision to get a set of used all seasons en lieu of brand new winters.
Couldn't afford a good set of new winters this year so went the economical route. They have been performing well thus far into winter.
Before I get flamed, I'm not saying that A/S tires are as good as winters, but they do the job fine if circumstances prevent you from getting winters. Combined with Quattro, they're more than sufficient for the type of winter we're having.

My opinion:
For snow, no doubt the narrower the better. I have 205's on my Passat (and had 205's on my A4) and I feel more sure footed in stopping in that car than in the S. Of course, the Blizzaks are more agressive than the GY's, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.
The only reason I would be iffy on going to 205's is the negative impact on dry; the car would probably push a whole lot more. Also, I notice with the Passat, the outer edges are wearing very quickly.
