After yesterday's race, I now remember why I stopped watching F1 years ago.
Other than the start, there were no more than 2 passes all race, and that's if you count DC's cut-off. Boring.
Then all the talk about "pit strategy". Everyone yesterday - at least those that mattered - stopped twice. They each went two "rounds" with soft compound and then ended the race with hard compounds. No places (maybe one) changed b/c of a slower stop or different strategy. And really, is that why you watch a race?...to see who f's up a pit stop? Boring.
Take out the "glamour" and $$$, and the racing is meh.
BUT, I will still keep trying to be seduced.

I see a lot of parallels between F1 and soccer. There isn't much scoring (passing) but when it
happens, it is very exciting. You just can't look away because you may miss it. Lack of passing also has a lot to do with track design. The newer tracks are wider and have passing zones built in.
F1 is more of an engineering competition then a motorsport. The drivers are highly skilled, no doubt, but without a competitive car, they are useless. It is almost impossible for a driver's skill to make up for a slow car.
I think next year will be better with the mandated shift from aerodynamic grip to mechanical grip. Hopefully, this will give cars more grip in the corners and allow more passing.
I'd hate to see a homologated car because that would really stiffle technical development. However, I do see people's point about making the sport more about driving then the car. I get frustrated too when I see one team just walk away from the field. This weekend's race was pretty boring.
