Got a second small stone chip in windshield this morning. Has anyone tried those chip repair places
like Speedy (I see their commercials all the time) or Apple Auto Glass or anyone else?
Any idea on cost to get it fixed?

I had one "fixed" yesterday on my MB (already replaced the windshield twice in the last
year).
It cost me $60 and it was ok, it still leaves a little mark on the windscreen though. But much better then the $1100 for the entire replacement.
tokk the guy about 20 mins to do.

I'm getting a new windshield on Monday - $550 installed.
I tried the chip fix in the past and found that they leave marks. After repairing a few on a windshield the cost is very close to a new one. I also note that my glass can get a sand blown look. Now I just leave them and once I have enough or there is a large crack I get a new one, which is nice.

Don't go to apple or speedy. The small guys usually seen at Crappy tire in the parking lot...
are very good at what they do. The guy that owns that chain of stone chip repair has a shop in scarborough that does chip filling and windshield replacements. They're the guys that a lot of dealerships go to get stuff done.
Stone chip repair is about $30 (depends of size of chip/crack) and when they're done, 90% of the time you can even barely see the crack/chip anymore.

I get chips filled all the time... they use alot of gravel that they call sand here.. $30 to repair
at my local shop. Keeps it from spreading and usually makes the chip less visible.
Check your insurance; until a while ago, it was fully covered by my policy (BC recently changed it), same when I was in MB - $0 deductible.
