FYI... Moose are bad m'kay... don't hit them...
Happened to me Sunday night... Can't believe I sustained so little damage... going out to buy a lottery ticket soon!
<i>
Well, it's official... I've got a horseshoe up my butt! Once is a fluke, a pure stroke of luck; but twice is way too lucky!
About two years ago, Feb. 2006, while on my way to a performance rally in Northern Quebec, I managed to hit a deer with my Audi. He turned his head at the last minute, and I caught his chest with my driver's side mirror. I mean... what are the odds! No damage, just a little shaken up. Stopped, turned the mirror back into position (it pivoted on it's base), and I was back on the road.
Well tonight, driving back up to Sudbury on a 4-lane section of Hwy 400 just north of Parry Sound, I did almost the exact same thing with a moose. I had the low-beams on because of traffic ahead of me (which was coincidentally one vehicle, stopped on the side of the road with his 4-way flashers turned on), so I didn't see it till the last second. I was in the right-lane, and it was in the middle of the road... I swerved, it turned it's head, and I definitely felt us connect every so slightly. Start flashing brake lights and turn on the 4-ways to warn people coming up behind me, and pull over to the shoulder.
Am I still alive?
Did that just happen?
Did I seriously just hit a moose?
No apparent damage to the car, not even a turned-in mirror. Drive a couple km's to the gas-stop at Nobel, and get a better look under the lights. There is an obvious spot, right where the A-pillar meets the roof, at the top of the windshield. Scuffed, dented, and hair stuck in the trim around the windshield. No broken windshield, no other damage... just a long shallow dent.

You've obviously never seen a moose in real life... they are brick walls,
Ive seen on walk away after getting hit by a car doing 80kmh. Car was written off, moose was slightly aggrivated and walked away.

"it turned it's head, and I definitely felt us connect" <- assumed it was contact to the head?
Doesn't take much contact at that speed, doesn't matter how big the rest of him is....
