CAR ****...WW...PG advised. You are warned! Some may find this very offensive...
I'm taking my car to the next level and there is no coming back! Even if you don't agree with my project it is informative because you get to see how the car is built. Some of you are going to think I'm nuts and sometimes I wonder myself but my goal is to get the car under 3000 lbs and maybe closer to 2900 lbs. I may in the future cut out some of the inner sheet metal (trunk, doors hood and so on) to get the weight down towards my target and I may even remove the AC system. I have to see what happens when we remove the dash but that's for later.
Let the strip tease begin... :-)
Bare trunk lid.

Bare trunk, left side.

Bare trunk, right side.

Curtain air bag system.

Close of the curtain air bag and its firing mechanism. The inertial reel also as some sort of firing mechanisms. Now I'm going to have to figure out how to fool every air bag connector into thinking the system is working normally. The inertial reels are going to come out at a later date because I need them in place because my shoulder harness bar that I got made a few months ago is secure to that system.

Curtain air bag all the way to the front dash.

Curtain air bag once removed. It is ~ 9 feet long.

Interior floor carpeting removed. It's one piece, it's thick, and it's heavy. My guess it's about 20 lbs and the whole thing looks like two bath tubs stuck side by side although not quit as high as a bath tub (about half the height).

Front passenger side. The paper junk that was left in the car at the factory among things found. The heating system duct that brings the air to the back seat floor area. The connection area for the front seat and the air bags.

General view from the back looking forward.

View of the driver's seat area. As on the right side we see the seat connections (air bag and others), the heat duct to the rear and an additional plastic box tat contains all the climate control connectors.

The roof liner removed.

What's left under the roof liner. Part insulation part, part soundproofing, this will be removed today hopefully.

Stripped door. I may take the grinder and trim out the undesired weight out of there and install lexan windows. But this will have to wait for now.

With the Sparco back in the driver's slot. It will be moved over to the passenger side when the new Recaro arrives. Both rear seat air ducts on the right and on the left were removed.
