Default Anyone know whether insurance covers you on the track?

I heard that they don't, but not sure if this is correct.

Depends on the insurance company and track event.

Dealer is having a track day. Aren't all policies basically the same?

Default Not all track events are the same

examples:
High Performance Driver Education with instructors.

Lapping days with no instruction.

Default Not if you are racing - a reputable driver education program is another matter.

Best to phone your agent for confirmation.

Default I would still check with your insurance if you are uncomfortable but...

Usually when it is a school type event like a high performance driving school run in a controlled matter usually by some sort or organization (Audi Club of North America or a BMW Club) that are officially recognized then there should be no problem

Most of these schools will tell the people attending the classes that this is <b>not a racing school but and advance driving school</b> and that <b>no timing device is tolerated</b>, meaning that if you or anyone is caught timing people they are going to be kicked out of the event.

Most insurance will have a clause like this <b>"any timed event"</b> to cancel or void your insurance and not cover you if something were to happen.
