the Sony XBR6 line and Sharp ACQUOS equivalent (which I don't know what it is). However, I'm not wed to either brand and am very open to suggestions.

Default My Sharp Aquos D92U 46" is more than sufficient for gaming

HDTV content is fine also.

Of course I'd love to have black black's but this good enough for me.

Default Slightly different need between gaming and TV watching.

Which is more important to you?

If you're going to play once in a while, get a Plasma.

Default Between Sharp & Sony LCDs, I'd go with Sharp.

Having said that, you can't go wrong with either. I have a Sony because at the time of purchase I got a killer deal.

If it's mostly TV watching and a little gaming, plasma might be a better choice because in general it has better black level and picture quality than LCD. However, if it's in a brightly lit room with large windows and sunlight shines on to the screen often, sunlight reflection might becoming annoying. In such a layout LCD might be a better choice.

Default This is more of a utility TV so it needs to do both. Later on I'll get a plasma or front projector

to really maximize the home theatre movie experience. I agree that the plasmas are superior movie watching TVs but they are more sensitive to lighting conditions, etc.

Default Well I have the 52XBR4 so I am a little biased. But if you want a XBR6 you better hurry

as they are phazing them out for the XBR7.
