Default If you do keep looking for 7th gear then you need a more powerful car
In a chipped B5 S4 I imagine you will need clean underwear before you will need 7th gear.

Default I use 5th all the time on the highway, 6th lugs below 3k for my lil engine
6th for cruising, 5th for passing or some hills even. Actually, below 110km/h I'm generally in 5th.

80k roads are almost always in 5th.
