A4 no more
A few days ago, a water main broke very close to my house, and unfortunately flooded my garage and basement with mud water...sadly the A4 has suffered massive water damage, and may very well be a write off (still is being determined by insurance company). My question is, what would you do? Would you ask for the car back and fix it yourself, or just let the insurance company have it and move on? The only reason why I'd like to keep it is because a lot of time and effort (and money) was spent in keeping the car in mint condition, so it would seem like it was a waste.

It's not clear in this pic, but the water level was were it appears to be wrinkled on the seat near the backrest.

Upon my quick inspection of the car, im confident that the mechanical parts are likely fine...its the interior and electronics that would need work, as the car shorted out while it was attempted to be started by the body shop assessing the car.

Water is the worst kind of damage. You'll be chasing electrical gremlins for the rest of your life.
Move on.
I can relate to the emotional investment you have in this car, which is why I try my best to maintain a healthy distance. It's just a thing, in the end. Had to repeat that every day for the first few yrs of ownership, lol. Otherwise you go nuts with ever stone chip.
Good luck with insurance.

Ah man, sorry to see this....
I don't have much else to offer aside from what others have said (let the insurance company have it, won't be worth the trouble); but just wanted to say it sucks to see, and good luck. (and let me know if you need any help at all should you decide to keep it).
