    the shop makes a mark up on parts and a mark up on labour to pay for the shop itself. If you deprive the shop of its total margin it goes broke.

    Usually, the shop gets parts discounted from the best price you can get as an individual purchaser so it makes little sense to buy parts and ask the professional to install them.
