    Fair. After reading a couple more posts, I do have some additional thoughts.

    (a) perhaps you could try and encourage customers to use your parts by offering package deals.

    (b) perhaps keep or raise your flat rate regardless of where the part comes from, and then create a loyalty program that will encourage repeat business. you also get to reward your most loyal clients this way.

    (c) i also think that providing extra care and superior quality in your service requires extra time. if you continue to undercut yourself by charging lower prices all around, you may find yourself in an unsustainable position.

    (d) all this depends on your own observations about your core repeat customers - i think you're the only one that can tell how price-sensitive they are.

    when it comes to business, i don't believe you can characterize any decision as greedy/generous. everybody is in it to make a living and hopefully increase their wealth by delivering more value and or by increasing efficiency.

    if a dealer doesn't increase prices in accordance with increases to COGS, inflation, and fixed costs, then i can't help but wonder if he's cut some corners elsewhere to make up for it. not saying this is you, of course.
